    Asterisked Catalog Feeds

What does an asterisk at the end of  feed name mean? (ie: Slashdot vs Slashdot*?)
    Thanks

    Re: Asterisked Catalog Feeds

    Hello,

An asterix signifies that the feed (mClip) was made directly from the original RSS feed itself. This means that when you subscribe to such a feed you will only get the headlines and a brief summary of the articles, not the full text of each article (unless the original feed included the full text of the articles).

If there is a particular feed you want the full articles for, and we do not have it in our catalog, please let us know. We can probably make it up for you and add it to the catalog.

Please note that sometimes we have both types of mClips for RSS feeds (a shortened form and another one with the full articles). This is the case for some online news sites such as New York Times or BBC.

    Thanks for using mDigger!

This forum rocks: questions get answers! Big Smile [:D]

So for local news, how would I convert a feed that only gets headlines to one that can access the full article if desired?

    Thanks again

The NYTimes has a Dealbook link (http://dealbook.blogs.nytimes.com/rss2.xml) that only gives a short summary and no link to full article.  Can this link be modified to show the source article?

    Re: Asterisked Catalog Feeds

    Hello,

I will pass this URL along to our developers and see if we can have them add it to our catalog with the full articles. Are you by any chance a developer yourself? If you are, you can make such mClips (or channels) yourself out of  Internet sources.

We will get back with you in a few days on the Dealbook link.

    Re: Asterisked Catalog Feeds

Unfortunately we (or you if you are a developer) have to make an mClip from the RSS source in order to view full text unless the RSS feeds the informatation that way to begin with.Is the local news source you are referring to the Dealbook blog described in your next post or something else? We might be able to make it for you.

    Thanks,

    Re: Asterisked Catalog Feeds

I'm not a developer, just a user who likes to know how things work, so I'll check out what a mClip is and see what works.

Thanks for the Dealbook link, that  would be a real time saver for me.

I need one for thestreet.com as well, so it the is a pattern to the link making ...

I'll check out what a mClip is. Geeked [8-|]
